I run it down to almost empty then add fuel stabilizer in increments while filling the tank. For example, add 1 ounce of fuel stabilizer then pump 2.5 gallons of fuel, add another ounce then pump 2.5 gallons. Repeat until the tank is full then drive for 10-15 minutes around town but be sure to leave at least 95% fuel in the tank per the instructions. Is it a gimmick? Perhaps but I don't think so. Old gas has always given all my engines a tough time until I started using stabilizer. I had to change the carb in my snowblower every other year until I started using fuel stabilizer. Since then I haven't changed it in over 5 years. It comes out to $6 a year for everything that goes into storage over the seasons. Cheap insurance/prevention if you ask me.
